The Story Behind Aunt Lou’s Special Seasoning
1875, Deadwood, Dakota Territory
Aunt Lou, a freed slave from Tennessee, was considered the finest cook in the Dakota Black Hills. At her restaurant, people came from miles around for a taste of her plum puddings and peach cobbler. But her perfectly seasoned fish, chicken, beef, pork and vegetables were unforgettable mainly because of her wonderful seasoning. We hear that this seasoning tastes so much like hers, we named it after this special lady.
