“It works great in sauces.” Dave Callon
“Not sure why SO MANY seasonings list that they should go on this or not on that. If the flavors taste good I am going to use it on whatever I feel like. This stuff is pretty good, pretty punchy, and I have not once used it on chicken, seafood, veggies, or fries.” Scarey
“I like the taste and the flavor is quite strong.” Hal
”I love to cook and I cook meals from scratch every single day… But sometimes I feel a little lazy or am busy and still want to make a great meal with minimal effort. That’s where complete spice mixes come to the rescue. I have a few that are my favorites, like Cavender’s and Tony Chacheres, but I had never heard of Aunt Lou’s, so when I saw it, I jumped on the opportunity to try it. Let me tell you, I don’t regret that decision at all, this is DELICIOUS! It has so much flavor and just the right balance of herbs and spices. It’s AMAZING on white fish and chicken. Today I even put some on my home made turkey and veggie sub and it elevated it to a whole different level. The taste is salty, herby, garlicky, and compliments delicate flavors wonderfully. You should definitely have this in your cupboard if you eat a lot of poultry, fish or vegetarian dishes. It’s a delicate mix so I would not put it on food before charring or blackening it because some of these herbs are prone to burning. It does make a good dry rub, just sprinkle it on your raw meat and let it set to lock in the flavor. I find it tastes excellent when added to many savory foods near the end of the cooking process, as a sort of final touch before serving.” Helpful Reviews
“This seasoning blend has onion, garlic, cayenne (not too much), ‘spices’, and a bright splash of citrus that’s subtle. I especially like this on roasted vegetables, but it adds a nice complex flavor to anything. It’s a great way to freshen up frozen veggies, too! It makes a nice rub on pork tenderloin, and I loved what it did for my soups! I’m sure I’ll continue to find new ways to use this. It’s very tasty! Will order again. I do think it would be helpful if they showed additional photos of the label so that shoppers could easily read the ingredients list.” Tink Martin
“I expected a generic salty, garlicky, oniony blend. Thats what most blends seems to feature as their “top notes” on first taste (by dipping my finger in) it didn’t taste as salty as I’d expected. It’s zingy – probably from the orange. And you do of course get the onion and garlic. It’s a tangy blend, and this impresses me. I like that’s it’s not just salt that hits my tongue first. I made a Lord Woolton Pie (strictly speaking, it’s an upgraded version) which at it’s most basic, is just sauteed vegetables in a pie. There’s so much produce coming our of the garden, and it’s hard to find a use for it, but i love these vegetable pies I’ve been making. And i make a cheese sauce to bring the sauteed veggies together into a homogenous mixture, along with Aunt Lou’s Special Seasoning. I couldn’t actually taste the seasoning, but the pie itself was spectacular. I wouldn’t want to be able to actually JUST taste seasoning, in my opinion, it’s meant to enhance, not overtake the flavours. So I’d buy this again.” JustaNarwhal
“This spice blend is tasty with the major notes being onion & garlic. What differentiates this from all the others is its orange, citrus & cayenne inclusions. A standard blend that has a little zing from those extras that comes through as a secondary taste at the back of your throat. Nothing too spicy, but enough to make you notice it’s something special. Some spice blends come in plastic bottles. This one is in glass. It has a flip-top shaker lid with 2 different grades of openings for light or heavy amounts when shaking to dispense.” TIG
“I love to try different spice blends. I wanted something new to use on my porkchops, and Aunt Lou delivered! When I first opened it, I immediately smelled and saw the larger pieces of garlic and onion (already a win in my book). The rest of the blend gives it a “bright” taste with just a little kick of cayenne. Coating both sides of my pork chops and letting it sit for a bit before throwing them into my pan came out perfectly. I’m glad to have this in the pantry!” Edwin S.
“Smells so good and taste just as great. Use on any meats and it won’t disappoint! Get this!” Rich
“This is a very interesting seasoning. It’s perfect on seafood, and good on chicken dash it’s really good on any delicate flavored meat to me, and vegetables too. It’s got a good bit of citrus zest in it and a little heat. It’s almost like a Caribbean seasoning to me, but it’s not at all sweet. I would describe it as savory and zesty, with a slight touch of sour zing coming from citric acid.” Garden Cat
“This review is for Aunt Lou’s Special Seasoning. It comes on a 2.06oz jar. This is an all-purpose seasoning blend, with garlic, onion, orange, and cayenne. It can be used to enhance the flavor of pretty much anything savory. I used it on chicken last night and it tasted great.” R.P.
“I’m glad I tried this it’s savory and spicy. Using it on chicken, steak, pork chops and even french fries on the grill. I just wish the bottle was bigger it’s gonna go fast. Thanks.” DesertH.E.A.T.
“This seasoning taste good! Taste like an all purpose, Italian, lemon seasoning.” R. Flores
”I love this versatile seasoning, especially for our meal prep delivery services. This adds a ton of flavor, without adding tons of salt like some flavorings. Great on just about EVERYTHING.” UCSDsoccer
“I haven’t found anything that I don’t like this spice on. I’ve added it to Potato Salad, Macaroni Salad, and fish so far. It has brightened them all. Enjoy!” Jan
